This legacy route was the first permanent approved in the Asheville region circa 2012 with the help of randonneur emeritus Andy Albershardt (relocated to Gunnison, CO). It's arguably the most loved route in the region with beautiful views and 4 substantive climbs to include Sam's Gap, Carver's Gap, Buck Creek Gap, and Swannanoa Gap. We recommend a lunch stop at Puerto Neuvo in the town of Roan Mountain before climbing Carver's Gap (Roan Mountain). The SPEEDY GONZALEZ is the go-to dish ;)
Wood fired pizzas will be served for lunch at the 200km control.
